Feng Shui

There was an office-suite on the very lowest level of the base under the mountain. It was spacious and well-lit. Temperature-controlled. We’d flown in the latest and most renowned European feng shui specialists to help with the design of the place. Usually, it was the realm of the President or other very senior dignitaries privy to our Top Secret base.

Sometimes I headed down there to think in the calm interior, even though I didn’t believe in feng shui or God or any other superstitious salvation. God and those other superstitions were what you called on when the chips were down.

And they were once again down.

"God,” I'd said, "I have a question for you - why do you feel I’m always at your door, banging away, screaming, `Let me in, God, let me in you motherfucker!' Why’d you keep me out here like I’ve nothing to give when you know I’ve nothing to live for?"

And you know what, God didn’t answer.

Not a word.

That selfish little bastard.

However, the vast majority of the underground office-suite was allocated to Salome Valerian. She had her office down there.

“Mr. Gates,” Salome’s assistant, Steve, greeted me formally.

“Steve,” I said.

I knew - this bastard didn’t care for me, either.

“Mr. Gates, I think you-” Steve started to say but I ignored him and marched straight on into Salome’s office unannounced.

Salome Valerian had the air-con cranked over on full.

She looked relaxed and completely recovered from her meeting with the recently formed Nations Strategic Space Alliance.

Or N.S.S.A.

You’ll be comforted to know: Salome Valerian was incredibly naked and that massive moron, the President, was nowhere to be seen. In the clearly illuminated suite I could see Salome Valerian’s almost translucent, pale skin and fine, beautiful full breasts and long legs leading up to between her-
